T he small village of Stokkseyri in the Southwest of Iceland is not much on the must-see agendas in the country. While not without its charms the landscape here is rugged and flat and winds from the sea howling more often than not.

But this place has one thing no other village or town offers: The Ghost Centre.

Which certainly sounds corny and up to a point it is. But it is still a worthy place to visit for even though the scary stuff on show might not hold any candle to large amusement park shows abroad. It is all very basic and most showpieces made by locals themselves.

However, the poor props is actually a huge part of the charm of a visit. It can still be a scary place to visit and that is the whole point. Along with the idea one gets to know a little bit about the long history of dubious things taking place on this remote island.

Another bonus of visiting is a rather good Northern Light show usually running while the center is open. In fact, it is so good tour companies show up here if nothing is seen on their own Northern light tours in wintertime.

Certainly a worthy stop if you find you around these parts although perhaps not worthy enough for a special trip.
