Typical Icelandic homes in times past can be viewed up close at the folk museum at Skogar in South of Iceland. PIC Saylea
We cannot tell a lie. Few museums in Iceland would ever be considered major in any sense of the word. Even worse, many would not even make the “minor” category in a global context. Then again, in between loads of dirt one can sometimes find a diamond or two.
This is not to belittle the many museums of this country but only the basic view that young countries can hardly have loads to offer in the historic sense. Double that for a young country with population of only three hundred thousands of which ten percent are recent emigrants. And lastly, some places in this beautiful country have hasten to build all kinds of stupid museums to partake in the local tourist gold rush.
But team Total Iceland is on to this on your behalf and below is a complete list of all museums of this country with a rough description and evaluation. You see, we contend we live in the most fascinating country in the world and no man-made stuff, be it museums or superjeep tours, comes close to excite your senses like our nature. Which, sadly has been deteriorating lately.
