You´ve endlessly been postponing your visit to Iceland hoping for a better time or cheaper fares. Sadly, you are outta luck. Expensive Iceland will be still more expensive next year.

The government has just decided to change the tax laws in the country which means higher tax on most things tourists want and love. Higher tax on tours and events, higher tax on airline fares and a higher tax on food and accommodation.

The news about the tax hikes are brand new and will not take effect until May 2015. After this one will pay 12% tax on food instead of 7% and a new 24% tax will apply to tours like whale watching tours. There is little doubt tourism companies will raise their prices accordingly making your 2015 trip more expensive than you might have expected.
