There are folks out there that call this the “best kept secret” in whole of Iceland. The “secret” in this case the fact that all Saturdays all year round supermarkets in the country slash 50% off all candies and chocolates in self-serving bars.

Yeah, we knew this would form a smile on your face. Who doesn´t like candy? Every supermarket here has a self-serving candy area and generally quite a wide selection.

However, as juicy as this sounds to candy-lovers worldwide some perspective is helpful. You see, general prices in local supermarkets are like anything else in this country; expensive. Ditto that for candies which carry a high sugar tax. The way around that is the good ´ole fashion marketing, just raise the price considerably during the other six days to be able to advertise 50% off that one day of the week.

Therefore, even with this massive discount, the candy will most certainly be more expensive than you think. But hey, everything helps.
