Speed hiking in Iceland borders on insanity
Thankfully no one individual is exactly the same or else this world would be horribly boring and obnoxious. What one person likes the other dislikes, what one considers brave another calls normal and so on and so on.
There are some deep unexplained bonds that unite us all as humans and make most of us at one time or another feel each others pain, sadness, joy or whatever else life throws our way.
But some people get so weird in the head that the simple pleasure of walking, nowadays called hiking if done outside of cities, actually practice speed-hiking. And sadly, a growing number of these people show up in Iceland.
No, you are not hurting anyone and no, you are not breaking any laws either. But speed hiking the unique nature of Iceland is so far removed from the idea of enjoying a walk and at the same time connecting to this beautiful land with all its remarkable power, that it should punishable by instant death. Okay, death may be a bit too much but you get our drift. Are you guys not stressed out enough already?
Stop and stare is our motto and it is exactly the opposite of speed-anything that makes us embrace nature and feel alive and well. Speed-hiking does nothing of the sort.
You would never speed-love would you? Love on the run? Perhaps that is why you have been divorced so many times and wonder time and time again why you haven´t found someone real.
Mother earth and especially such a young little creature as Iceland deserves worth more and better. And you too.
