Y ou probably did not know that Nordurfjordur in Strandir area in the remote Western part of Iceland is the center of the universe. Well, at least according to the few locals still around.
Strandir Iceland is a remote place in any sense of the word. Whilst more people show up in these parts nowadays it is still only a trickle compared to most other places in Iceland.
And yet, in the Nordurfjordur fjord in Strandir, you will be able to grab a good cup of coffee and even basic lunch or dinner should you happen to find yourself drawn to remote places. Kaffi Nordurfjordur, Nordurfjordur coffee house, is run there all summer long by a family with old roots in these parts.
Even if only a handful of people actually live here you can find close by an excellent home-made hot spring water swimming pool located by the sea about three kilometres from the coffee house. One of handful of swimming pools with a view. Finding it easy as 1,2,3. Just drive onward.
