All good things come to a close eventually it seems. Including access to some of Iceland´s greatest natural wonders.
Starting next month, April or May, you will have to fork out extra for a chance to get up close and personal with the fabulous geysers of the Geysir area in Haukadalur valley in Iceland. The amount will not bring financial ruin as its only 6€ or so per head and the sights are certainly worth that and much more.
However, this is both unconstitutional as the Iceland constitution allows anyone to freely travel anywhere and certainly within private lands too. There is also something very wrong about a few local landowners lining their pockets from a world renowned natural pearl like the Geysir area.
Thus we suggest anyone up for some mischief should disregard completely any demand for admission when visiting Geysir in the future. That goes double if and when the landowners owning parts of the land close to Dettifoss waterfall or Namaskard mud pool area also demand payment for a natural resource belonging to the people.
Power to the people folks!
