[dropcap style=”one” color=”grey” text=”T” /]eam Total Iceland has from time immemorial, or at least these last months, recommended foreign visitors use cheap domestic flights to see as much as possible of this beautiful spot of earth we call Iceland. But we cannot in good conscience do so anymore.

The reason is greed. Air Iceland, which is pretty much the only real domestic airline in Iceland, has radically changed their price structure and, surprise surprise, the customer shall bear the added burden.

What the airline, a syster company to Icelandair, has done is added a tiny weeny bit on their prices but at the same time taken away any free luggage allowance. You now pay a higher price and also a special price for any luggage.

For locals this would not be too much of a problem but foreign visitors cannot easily leave their luggage in Reykjavik while snowboarding in Akureyri, trekking Vatnajokul glacier or any other fabulous stuff you can do here.

In any case, for people to really benefit you will need to book a week or weeks in advance for the lowest prices. Check out netoffers at the frontpage of Air Iceland web.
