Who you gonna call? Good luck finding the number of the current prime minister of Iceland. PIC Ruv

All kinds of stupid stuff seems to float around about Iceland and Icelanders judging by most social media. Seems it is against the law to keep a dog here, tipping is an serious insult and the always very popular: the Prime minister is in the phonebook.

The reality in all three cases NO, NO and NO. None of this is remotely true. Dogs are kept by many, we have never seen anyone mad about getting some extra dough and the chances of you finding the number and calling the Icelandic Prime minister are nonexistent.

What is true is that back in the day it was very possible for any Joe and Jill to call the ministers and even the president and chat away. This is when Iceland was still backwater which incidentally is not so long ago. But now most people of influence have unlisted numbers and loads of assistants taking their calls anyway.

But hey, the country is still fantastic.
