A girl and some penises. Phallological Museum is weird but there are more option for weirdness in Iceland

We are willing to bet that you´ve already heard of the, famous or infamous depending on your point of view, Phallalogical museum in Iceland. Where penises of all degrees and shapes hold your stiff attention.

Although that particular museum takes the prize for weirdness, in a good sense, there are other museums in the country where you also get this weirdness feeling.

Take for instance the Earthquake Center museum in the very small town of Kopasker. Not big by any stretch but very informative and shows pretty vividly how earthquakes can change everything. Mainly it deals with a quake of 6.3 in winter of 1976 which demanded the immediate evacuation of the townspeople in very hard weather conditions. Certainly worth a quick look.

Another museum with a twist is the Museum of Transportation at Ystafell farm close to the town of Husavik in the North. There are crippled car enthusiast has worked tirelessly for years building a museum of cars used in Iceland for the past decades. The museum is well worth your time.

Should children´s toys be your kind of thing then a visit to the Toy Museum in the beautiful old town of Akureyri is worth a shot. Admittedly the exhibition only covers old Icelandic toys but is does tell you a lot about the country and its people.

Last, but not least, is a real Icelandic Country music museum. Run by the most dedicated western country music enthusiast in the whole country and a thrilling individual worth meeting. He runs a western style hamburger joint and on the upper floor the only country music station in the country. This is much more than weird.
