Team Total Iceland often gets inquires about which airlines, tour agency or tour operator we recommend. The answer is not really hard and the comments below should help you make a decision.

It is not as if there is a lot to choose from if interested in visiting Iceland. From Europe there is no problem. You can fly with Icelandair, Wow Air, Lauda Air, Transvania, Vueling, Flybe, easyJet, Norwegian, Airberlin, Germanwings and some charter airlines but coming from North America you´re in for a squeeze. Your only options are Delta and Icelandair.

Being a traveler of sound mind and body you know damn well Delta has not gotten any awards for anything in decades and the flag carrier of Iceland, Icelandair, is painting a pretty poor picture of service too as evidenced by a few of the comments on their facebook/twitter page these last few days.

Not surprisingly, the airline has gotten massive help from the government to avoid further strikes among its staff. The staff wants decent pay from a company smiling all the way to the bank and inside the bank too every day of the year. No dice though. Local government believes it best to keep wages low for 99% of staff while the top people get wage hikes and bonuses for simply burping.

Which means that you, the customer, will have a fat wait ahead of you if anything goes wrong. Six to eight weeks is the official waiting period for dealing with complaints on behalf of Icelandair. Team Total Iceland believes it to be rather longer than that.
