Team Total Iceland gets amazing number of rather weird questions through email. So much so that we have decided to publicly answer the most stupidest ones. Like the one we got this week asking if the women of Iceland were still baring their breast, freeing the nipple and where to witness this amazing event.

Avid social media users should by now be well aware of a thing in Iceland known as #freethenipple revolution. This happened this past winter when loads of local women suddenly started this trend of freeing the nipple by baring their breasts for all to see.[blockquote type=”blockquote_line” align=”right”]No specific places to go other than the nearest swimming pool[/blockquote]

Nothing new about this. The trend is a few years old and no one knows exactly why Icelandic women choose that particular moment in time for their protest. Furthermore, few in-country understand why the women did this. There has never been any movement, laws or regulations against women baring their breast ever. Indeed, just ten years ago or so, a girl in a swimsuit top would actually stand out among the ones freely tanning their tits in public swimming pools, parks and on the few beaches here. Baring your breasts was a given and few gave it a second thought.

But enough about the sudden rage in the titty-show. We actually got a letter from one Austrian asking if “the girls of Iceland are still baring their breast and if so, where to see them.”

Tough luck. This was kinda one-off event and few, if any, local girls are doing the daily errands with their breasts hanging out. However, if the girls are serious one might notice in high summer when the temperature here gets nicer. No specific places to go other than the nearest swimming pool to find out if the “revolution” was just a fad or if there was any great intent behind the #freethenipple.
