[dropcap style=”one” color=”grey” text=”T” /]hat was all we needed. On top of overcrowding regular tourists we also have to deal with Hollywood stars en masse in Iceland these days.

Indeed, the number of famous folks spending time in Iceland, incognito or not, these days is overwhelming to say the least. Christopher Nolan, Susan Sarandon, Prince Harry, Nile Rodgers, Gordon Ramsey and Ryan Gosling to name a few just last week, apart from loads of small starlets from some famous TV shows.

We´ve even heard a rather unbelievable rumor about Stephen Fry camping somewhere in the great outdoors. Earlier we´ve came across Tom Cruise racing across sand dunes in the highlands here just before his wife left him and Russell Crowe did not complain much about spending time here. Darren Aronofsky fell in love and came twice and these are just the tip of the iceberg. Seems Iceland is all the rage.[blockquote type=”blockquote_line” align=”right”]Larger numbers of visitors here will surely turn this jewel into a mass-tourism destination[/blockquote]

Which is sad. Sad for the simple reason that famous stars tempt thousands more to come visit this windswept island of ours while we cannot even cope well with the numbers we are having now. Larger numbers of visitors here will surely turn this jewel into a mass-tourism destination and then it will be downhill all the way for the still pristine nature here.

It would be foolish to recommend not coming to visit anytime soon since many of our most fabulous places are under direct threat from the sheer numbers of tourists here. Therefore, you should consider coming right away to witness it all before it will be too late.
