Team Total Iceland has been under fire from a number of tour companies for daring to make noise about how many of those are raping the land for profit or raping tourists for profit.
We know these are harsh words indeed but we feel compelled since history has throughout shown clearly how greed will, sooner or later, destroy the things we love and like.
Most of us like travel and we contend travel actually is much healthier than puffing away in some sweaty gym since travel is exercise for the mind, something lots of folks could use a lot more of. You are constantly taking in new information, seeing new things, meeting new people and the nicer the experience the more pleasure you will get both instantly and later on in memories. Ask any reputable scientists what this does to the brain and your well being.[blockquote type=”blockquote_line” align=”right”]„leaving destruction in your wake has nothing to do with pleasurable travel experience“[/blockquote]
But expensive everything and leaving destruction in your wake has nothing to do with pleasurable travel experience.
Our words are not solely directed to local tour companies. Quite a number of foreign companies organize tours in Iceland and many of those, see photo, have such regard for this fabulous country they ruin it whenever there´s a chance. We hope some reader of ours recognizes the logo of this company since we do not know. Driving off-road in the higlands of Iceland is not only illegal but it leaves marks that can be seen by others that follow for years and even decades after.
Which brings us to a new ad from the US company Chevrolet. In the video below, shot entirely in Iceland, it seems just the thing to do to blast away the sands on the new SUV and even animal cruelty seems quite fine. We cannot wait for the chance to try the same things in the States next time. Perhaps Yosemite would be a good place….
