The only man in the world to have the Blue lagoon all to himself. Does he smell or something? Sadly, he does not seem too happy about it. The swim-up bar probably closed due to few visitors. Official Blue lagoon pic
Ever notice how few, happy and healthy people seem to be enjoying themselves in stunning natural setting in all the fancy and colorful tourism brochures or websites from Iceland? Must be absolutely wonderful!
Well, your big smile will fade like a snowball in hell when you find the lovely, unspoiled, unpolluted and uncrowded natural places you have been reading so much about turn out to be anything but when you finally arrive.
It will probably dawn on you when you notice the rows of coaches first. Then the totally filled car-parks might give a clue and lastly the throngs of people all over the place will make it real.
Today in Iceland, this applies for Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot spring area, Thingvellir National park, Myvatn national park, Kerlingarfjoll highland area, the Blue lagoon as well as large chunks of other nice places on the South coast of Iceland. To add insult to injury even if you should be so lucky as to arrive in perfect weather in perfect stillness there is a good chance of this being ruined by approaching rotor blades soon thereafter.
In short; there is now a whiff of not-so-fascinating mass-tourism around most of the treasures of this country of ours in high season and even more and more outside of high season too.

Most love this. The government loves tourist dollars. The local tour agencies and operators are ecstatic and not just laughing all the way to the bank but inside too. Not to mention the average room-temperature IQ tourist visiting thinking masses of people are the definitive guide to places of interest.
Sadly, mother nature cannot cope with such numbers of people. Especially when none of the tour operators and neither the government is doing much to limit the damage masses of people year-round do to pearls of nature. Indeed, some tour agencies here want millions more visitors.
Team Total Iceland believes it is worth a fight to protect the country of Iceland from becoming Benidorm of the North as some already think it is. Responsible is in our friggin´ genes and this is why we offer quite different tours from the normal shit.
