Team Total Iceland is pretty proud right about now. How many short headlines can boast of two dashes?

Yeah,we know it is not strictly the Reuters recommended way but what the hell! You only live once right?[blockquote type=”blockquote_line” align=”right”]do not expect to see the Northern lights[/blockquote]

We wanted to share with you a rather fascinating article we came across. An article about a rather stubborn Italian, we think, called Emanuela who has thrice been to Iceland solely to witness the great Northern lights. She has been here at the very best possible time each and every time.

Still, she has never seen the skies flicker wavy green at night. Not once.

Which kinda brings us to our point. Actually a point made repeatedly before; do not expect to see the Northern lights when in Iceland. We say this because we know and have guided around a number of people bordering on rage after staying up nights in row to no avail. We know some tour companies out there all but guarantee sightings but that´s about taking your money and not offering you first class service.

On the whole, while these rays of the sun are quite frequent visitors to the skies of Iceland you would do well to not expect to see them. This is nature folks! And thank god, nature goes its own way.

We implore you to read the fascinating account of Emanuela before packing for a Northern light experience anywhere.
