W ho knew you could walk for just one day and take in most of the attractions the capital city of Iceland, Reykjavik, has to offer. Oh, but you can.

Judging by the thousands of websites and guidebooks about Reykjavik city and Iceland, there is little shortage of amazing things to do in the capital. Most all agree it is wonderful with a capital W and no matter where you venture within the city limits one is bound to be constantly awed.

Funny thing then that you can actually see 95 percent of its main attractions in just one day. Apart from Grotta lighthouse, which incidentally is not within the boundaries of Reykjavik, Arbaejarsafn Museum, Ellidadal natural park and Videy island and perhaps a couple of other spots the rest can be enjoyed in one day walking around.

Then again, we´re not recommending taking it all in in just a day. Two days would be better since travel is supposed to be relaxing too. But two days will suffice for sure. Just follow our maps below. One is a walking map of attractions within or nearby downtown Reykjavik where most all hotels are located. The second map is of other interesting spots in the greater Reykjavik area. Easily accessible in a rental car but even more fun exploring in a regular bus.

Enjoy!
