If ever the large claims of politicians and corporate titans about the pureness and cleanliness of Iceland were correct, it is now time to bury those claims once and for all. It turns out, clean Iceland is leaking radioactive material..
The local radiation safety board has issued a statement saying radioactive material is collecting in and about a number of drilling holes in the HS Orka power station Reykjanesvirkjun at the tip of the Reykjanes peninsula. This is not too far away from the Keflavik international airport, often called Reykjavik international airport, and the famous Blue lagoon. In fact, the company at which plant the radioactive material was found also supplies the Blue lagoon with its warm water from boreholes. No information is given about possible contamination in that plant.
This is pretty bad news for the Reykjanes Geopark which is a running project turning the very volatile Reykjanes peninsula into a serious tourist draw. But it must be kept in mind the Radiation safety board assures us there is absolutely no danger whatsoever to humans.
You decide if the local radioactive safety board is telling the truth about non-contamination or not. Keep in mind it has been impossible for locals here to get records about possible common contamination in the Blue lagoon. Just take out insurance just in case.[ready_google_map id=’114′]
