There are quite a lot of ways to see and photograph the city of Reykjavik Iceland. Good options for a panorama shot are fewer and much more difficult since the city is so very spread out.

A fabulous option for a nice pic is to trek the Esja mountain range across from the city. On a clear day you get unlimited views over most of the city and even over most of the Reykjanes peninsula. Climbing Esja only takes an hour or two at least.[blockquote type=”blockquote_line” align=”right”]This island is a gem and rarely visited by anyone[/blockquote]

The next best option is from the top of Hallgrimskirkja church on Skolavordustigur. This highest church in Iceland gives fine views to all directions.

Another option is to visit the Seltjarnarnes golf club. Skip the golf and take in the Reykjavik, Kopavogur and Gardabaer skyline on a vast canvas.

But team Total Iceland´s favorite spot for photographing the city is from the small island of Videy. This island is a gem and rarely visited by anyone in spite of daily trips by boat. The island has quite a lot of history but from there you get really great views over the city from its highest point in Breidholt neighborhood all the way to the Harpa music venue in downtown.

The island boasts many varieties of birds and here also is a decent restaurant should you fail to bring something edible. The restaurant, however, is only open during summertime and on special occasions in winter.
